Ipsy March 2014 Box Review

Came back from my trip and was so excited that my Ipsy bag was here.

This month theme was Destination Beauty. This month they are asking Exotic beaches or a simple stay-cation - what beautiful destination is your March Glam Bag getting ready for? Since I just got back from a trip and I have another cruise scheduled for next month I can definitely say cruising is what I'm getting ready for.  I of course had peaked at my Ipsy bag and had seen what was going to be in there but its always so much fun to actually see it and get the products in my hands.

This months bag and I will say its probably my favorite one we've gotten in awhile. I love the pattern on this one and think it is so fun and fresh.

First glance at the products. I know most of these brands so I was very excited to open them up and see what they looked like.

The March Ipsy goodies:

• Klorane smoothing and relaxing patches - These are supposed to reduce signs of tiredness from lack of sleep, a long day or sun exposure and instantly soothes and refreshes the eyes. Dark circles and puffiness are visibly reduced and the eye contour looks fresh and bright. Cool patches in refrigerator before use to increase effectiveness and enhance its refreshing effect.  I've never really used eye patches so I'm anxious to give these a try. I'm thinking on my next trip I might need some "lifts" in the morning.
• Be a Bombshell Bora Bora Eyeshadow Quad - I love these colors and they are all some I will use. My only thing is they are a little dark for me for spring.  I get that its supposed to be tropical and exotic but they scream fall to me. Since I normally only wear eyeshadow when I go out in the evening I will use these now but I wouldn't do them for day wear.
• bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Rebel  - If you read my blog you know I love me some chapstick and gloss. I'm not a huge lipstick fan but I'm all about the gloss. This is a perfect neutral looking shade that will be fun to add to my rotation.
• Nicole by OPI On What Grounds - Ok you guys also know that I'm a nailpolish whore. You can not go wrong when you send me polish. This is a new line for OPI the Roughles line which when dried will leave a pebbled finish. It says you can skip the top coat so I'll have to see what I think when I get it on. I love this color for spring. It looks like the clear ocean that is the perfect greenish blue.

I'm pretty much in love with my bag this month. The only possible item I would have also loved is the Pacifica Body Butter and my mom did get that one so I may have to see what I can do ;) If you don't already know Ipsy is a monthly subscription bag that sends 4-5 makeup related goodies in a cute bag each month for only $10 plus tax. The value is definitely there and the surprise is so much fun to get each month.

What I love Wednesday

I'm really liking this post each week. I feel like it balances out my So What posts ;)

Ok so I'm not loving the pledging and money part of the Boosterthon but I am loving how into N is. He is so excited to be doing his fun run tomorrow and working towards his goal. He's been working on his phone calls to family asking them to pledge and telling them what he is working towards.

I love me some Target and I'm loving that today I get to go and check out the newest one to me. It is about 5 minutes away and today is its first open day. I can't wait for a new fresh store look and smell. LOL

My Josie Maran powder. A friend was raving on it and I got some and am in love with it. It goes on so nice and tone matches awesome.  I also love that it has some SPF in it to help my skin.  I'm off to Sephora today to get another one for my trip.

Pretty sure I've shared this before but I love my birthday. It is my favorite holiday and lucky my my birthday is this month. You know what that means? Birthday coupons!!!!  I love getting those coupons in the mail and today C and I are going to go out and try to use some of them.

Julep March 2014 Box Review

This Months Julep is the Riviera Collection.

I get very excited when I see my Julep box in the mail and this month was no exception. I knew which box I had ordered but it came in a larger Julep box then I was used to getting so that had me a little confused.

The first look is always fun and I saw right away why I got the larger box.

This month I opted for the Core Classics box and one polish add-on. The items in this box are in a larger packaging then the normal polishes and I think that is why I got the larger Julep box.

I did like the colors this month but I was needing a new Freedom and when I saw that they were offering this new form of box I thought I would try it out.

The contents:

• Freedom Polymer Top Coat - A high-gloss top coat that dries smudge-free in five minutes.  I love this stuff and use it with almost all my manis.  It is like pure gold to me and I was using my last bottle so I needed a new one and is pretty much the reason I chose this box.
• Oxygen Nail Treatment - A perfecting pink tint and strengthening treatment that lets nails breathe. with all the polish and remover I use my nails have been pretty dry and I'm always looking for a way to help them. I've read great things on this one and I love that it has a slight tint to it so that I'm not naked ;)
• Cleanup Tool - A Teflon-coated pro tool designed to clean under nails and fix polish mistakes.  I don't actually own a cleanup tool and am pretty lazy with my clean up. I actually normally paint my nails at night and then when I shower in the morning the polish I got all over my fingers flakes off LOL but this will be great to make a cleaner line.
• Tania - OMG this is an awesome color which is a multi-dimensional mermaid glitter. I can't wait to use this one.  Actually Julep posted a picture on their FB page and that sold me and I think almost everyone else on this color even more.

Is that not beautiful.  I'm going to use my oxygen treatment and then Tania on the tips.  I can't wait.

• Every month Julep has a little extra in the box and this month it is a candy stick. I already placed this in my bag for my trip this weekend.

So not the normal box with all the colored polish but it is a very useful box and one that I am needing right now so glad they've added this option to their selections. Julep is a monthly nailpolish subscription box that costs $19.99 a month and you get to select from the different boxes each month. They also have a store online that gives you the Maven price and free shipping if you have a subscription. I love this since they always have some good deals on their that I can grab when looking for a specific color.  If you would like to try your first box for free use code FREEBOX and you will only have to pay S&H (which I think is about $3.99).

TV Talk Tuesday

Back again to talk some TV. As always there are possible spoilers below so read through at your own risk. :)

Lets start with the Walking Dead.  What was everyones thought on this weeks episode? I was so glad that it was Daryl centric :) That made me happy. It was not an overly action packed episode but it needed to be done. He was really going to a bad place and Beth pulled him out. I will say I did keep thinking that all that drinking was going to result in a hook up ;) but maybe they are going for the slow build.  I about lost it when he started crying. Based on everything he has said I think the prison was the most like a real family that he has ever had and he really feels like he let them down.  Next weeks looks to follow Daryl and Beth and Maggie and her group and looks to have more action. Not sure I'll be watching since I'll be on the cruise but if they have AMC I will have to take a fun break to check it out

Anyone watch Bad Ink? This is one of those shows that is on at night when I'm heading to bed and M likes to turn it on. I will say I'm a little addicted. I don't have any tattoos and some of the bad ones they show really make me want to keep it that way. LOL WOW there are some bad tattoos out there and then when the people say my friend and I went and I got this I'm like they must not be a real friend if they let that happen to you. They are just bad bad bad.

Onto the Vampire Diaries.  This is such a guilty pleasure but I will watch for my guys ;)  Love me some Ian.  Kindof sad that looks like they have figured out the Elena/Katherine thing. I really like Katherine and love when she's in the forefront. Elena can be kindof a stick in the mud and Katherine is no holds bar. Poor Damon is always the one taking the fall for everything and this latest problem isn't helping matters.  I'm sure they will figure out a way to make it work out but still just not good if he's wanting to eat all of his friends.  This is an older picture since it has Klaus in it so lets talk about the Originals.  Are you guys still watching? I have a friend who has dropped it already but I like it. I am an episode behind but looks like the stuff is hitting the fan on that show. I can't wait to see when Haley has her baby and how that plays into the show.

So what shows are you watching right now? Are you adding any of the new shows coming on to your rotation?  I've recorded the first couple episodes of Star Crossed but haven't watched yet. The show Resurrection looks really interesting too. Very creepy but I might have to give it a chance.

Lego Kidsfest 2014

Wow is all I can say about the Lego Kidsfest. We had not made it to one of them before and since we were going to be home this weekend we decided to give it a shot.  This will be an event we now plan to attend for years to come if its in the area.

If you haven't heard of the Lego Kidsfest it is a Lego party with tons of hands-on activities for kids of all ages.  The cost of the event was $20 for kids ages 3-9 and $22 for adults and this is for one of the 4.5 hour sessions. For the event here in Raleigh they had 5 different sessions you could by tickets for and all of our sessions sold out so if you are interested make sure to grab your tickets early. We had the morning session on Sunday so it was from 9-1:30. We got there right at 9 and stayed until about 1. The boys would have stayed longer but M and I were worn out. LOL

The rest of this post is going to be photo heavy with little descriptions. Just let me know if you have any questions.

We did this one a couple times. You got to design your own vehicle and then race it down the track. The boys had so much fun trying to beat daddy.

There was a whole Lego Duplo area with two huge piles. One of regular Duplo and one with princess Duplo.  C of course picked the princess pile and the two of us spent a lot of time there while M and N went and did other activities. I'm pretty sure C would have sat here and built the whole time if I would have let him.

The big pile of bricks. I can't believe I didn't take an overhead view of this pile but basically its like a dump truck load of Legos dumped on the floor. The kids (and parents) can then sit and build to their hearts content.  We stopped and built a couple different times while we were there.

This is a Lego line we actually do not have any of. I think N is just moving into this age range and we will have to check them out. It is the Lego Hero Factory. He loved designing robots to battle with dads.

And my favorite are all the builds. These are so cool to look at and so fun to pose with.

That is just a sampling of what all they had. There were also areas for Chima, Star Wars, Friends, Lego City, Mixels etc.  If you need a break from all the building they had two different stores, a screen showing videos and also a reading area for some downtime.  There are also some competition areas with different little contests for the kids like tower builds etc. M and N said they did a couple of them and got some goodie bags for participating.  Also if you are a little older (I think the age said 7-12) they have a Master Build class with a real master builder.  Next year we will get in line for that for sure. It looked so cool.

We had a really great time and I would highly recommend this to anyone thinking about it.  I can't wait to go again when it comes through.

Monday Morning Musings

 

Good Morning everyone!!! Monday morning an we are at it again.

Weekend Update: WOW my weekend was crazy busy. Friday night Emily came over and we made an AWESOME stir-fry with my Produce Box veggies. Then we ran some errands.

Saturday hmm drawing a blank on what we did. LOL  oh wait we went to PDQ for lunch. Seriously my boys love this place and it is so good. Then M had to work that night so the boys and I hung out and just had some together fun. N has lost his Ipad until tomorrow (however with the early release today if he's good I  may let him get it back early. We shall see) so we did reading and legos and art. 

Sunday was craziness.  We had the Lego Kidsfest in the morning and it was AWESOME!!! The boys (all 3 of them ;)) loved it.  Be on the look out today or tomorrow for a whole post on the kids fest. (ETA the post is now up. See it HERE.)

Then the boys played outside with M and N going on a 3mile bike ride and plenty of outback play with the neighbors. They had to get all that in when it was almost 70deg yesterday since its going to be in the 20s today :( And last night I had to watch the Oscars.  Loved them as usual and even without seeing most of the nominated movies or actors I'm so glad with who all won.

Upcoming Week: Well my week is getting crazy and it wasn't supposed to be.  :(  N is getting out of school 3 hours early today due to the incoming sleet and snow. Yesterday morning it was just some sleet and now they are saying about an inch of snow too which means a delay or cancellation tomorrow too I'm sure.  I still want to try and find a new swimsuit before my cruise and I leave for that on Friday. Yea so excited for that but I need to pack for myself and get stuff at the house ready for the guys to be here all week by themselves.  Its kindof becoming a March tradition. Last year I spent a week in Vegas and this year a cruise so who wants to plan a trip for next March ;)

Box news:  My Julep box should be here today.  I went for the core basics this month so excited to get the oxygen treatment and a new freedom top coat. I actually skipped my Wantable intimates this month for now. :(  they make the skip easy and I didn't want it sitting here when I was gone so I plan to order it when I get back.

I still haven't put my Feb kit together yet but they are so cute gift bags with little banners.  So excited but I want to give them to the right people ;)  hmm not sure my mom and sister read this but possible a cruise goodie bag.  Oh that's an idea. Something I will have to work on this week. ehhh excited for that now
