I had a house full of kids playing Mario Cart today so I took a few minutes in my craft room to knock out a card. I was still inspired but this month's Paper Pumpkin kit that I shared over on my friends
HelloSubscription Blog . Using watercolor pencils and then an aqua painter for a quick background is so easy and gorgeous and I couldn't wait to try it out some more.
I knew how I wanted to start my card so I grabbed my new watercolor pencils and a scrap of my watercolor paper and looked them over.
I could not wait to get my new watercolor pencils and having them come in my matching Stampin' Up colors is fantastic. That is really one of my favorite things about Stampin' Up in that the colors are all matching and coordinate. It makes creating and designing so easy.
Right away the Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight jumped out and me and I knew exactly what stamp set I could use them for.
For this card I scribbled the two pencils onto my paper with a heavy hand so that I would get a rich color when I added water. I'm a fan of the aqua painters for this technique but you could use a paint brush or whatever your favorite blending tool is.
Here is my base once I had blended it out. I then used my Misti and my new Hey Chick stamp set to get the placement right where I wanted it to be. I somehow didn't get a picture of that but I am in love with my Misti and how easy it makes stamping in a certain spot on a card.
Here it is one I got it stamped and since I decided it need a bit of shine so I went over it and added a little wink of stella to the card. I love how the stella gives it just a peak of shimmer.
I'm a messy stamper so one way I keep my stamps clear and not have ink all over everything is to use the Lawn Fawn Shammy. It is so great and you just wet it and then put the stamp on it once done. As you can see mine is well loved and all of the stains don't hurt it at all. I also used the memento ink for my stamping.
As I said above I used a scrap piece of water color paper so it was not enough to cover the whole front of a standard size card. No worries I just selected a card base and then added some of the super fun glimmer paper that I also got during Sale-a-bration. You can never have too much glitter! This is a very low profile card so great for mailing and even without a lot of embellishments I LOVE it and think it really stands on it own.
Hey Chick! So what do you think? This stamp set is so fantastic and when sale-a-bration was going on I knew I had to get it. While it is no longer available you could easily do this same technique and idea and go with any stamp set.
What are you crafting today? I hope you are having a fantastic time creating.
Happy stamping,
Jenny
