Glamper Greetings Card

This post may contain affiliate links but all comments are my own

I'm developing a pattern of making cards when my house is full of boys playing. What can I say I work great in the chaos. I'm still inspired but this month's Paper Pumpkin kit that I shared over on my friends HelloSubscription Blog .  Using watercolor pencils and then an aqua painter for a quick background is so easy and quick and I'm obsessed with it.
First up was to grab my starters and decide what to do.

Since I had decided to use Glamper Greetings I wanted to do a ground and sky look so Old Olive and Pacific Point pencils were used.

After I scribbed I used my aqua painter to blend it all in. Since it is a camper kind of card I left it with some hard edges and deep color.

There are two steps to the camper with the outline and then the lines that go inside it. Since I wanted to get it lined up just right I used my Misti so I could line it up easily. The Misti is great for stamping and getting things just where you want them.

Once I got the camper just the way I wanted it. I just needed to decide on a sentiment and the "This is How I Roll" one in this set just makes me smile. I didn't want it to jump out too much so I just took a scrap of Whisper White paper and sponged it with Old Live so that it blended a bit and stamped on it.  I was then able to dig in my ribbon stash and add the great Dapper Denim 3/8" Rouched Ribbon. I love the look of this ribbon and have been using it on lots of projects this year.

I added a crumb cake base to the card so that it would open up and still have that touch of rustic feel.

I'm really loving this technique and how quick and easy it is but how cool it looks when done. There are so many ways you can take it and you can do so many different color schemes with the watercolor pencils. I'll admit when I first got them I thought I would mostly be coloring things in with them but really I haven't colored anything in yet.  I've been doing more large color backgrounds and they are all fantastic. I'm having so much fun.
What is your favorite thing to do with the watercolor pencils?

Jenny

Monday Musings

This post may contain affiliate links but all comments are my own.

Busy and hot weekend around here and now we are into the middle week of the boys track out.  With the weather so awesome my boys spent so much time outside with friends that I got to get crafty and make cards (I posted one yesterday) and play with my new Cricut.
I was looking around the house for things I could use and so I was able to put something on a pot and a little holder. C already took the holder and put markers in it on his desk. I'm still playing around with all the features in Design Space and learning my way around so this was great. I was telling my friend that I needed to find more items to add vinyl to and she went through her random stash and brought me so many goodies to play around with. (Thank you Kristin!!)  I can't wait to play some more.

Then with all the kids in my house taking a sun break and playing Mario Cart. I made the card I posted about yesterday and also started working on my planner for the week. I love to decorate my pages and while I don't go all out I love to add some stickers and extras as I go. This week I used all Erin Condren supplies on my pages. They work great since I use the Erin Condren planner which I still love. I use the monthly pages for all of my clients travels and their booking information and then I do the weekly as I go each week. I try and get it started on Saturday or Sunday for the next week but most times it is Monday morning when I'm doing my weekly emails and mailings that I get to it.  I love the time to sit and think about the week.

This is a busy week for us. We are planning on going Strawberry picking and then if the weather holds out we are going to check out Carowinds and maybe Reed's Gold Mine. If it rains then we will do pottery and shopping.  I'm actually pretty good with either option. :)

It was a good weekend and now I'm ready for the week!
Have a great one everyone,
Jenny

Hey Chick! Card

This post may contain affiliate links but all comments are my own.

I had a house full of kids playing Mario Cart today so I took a few minutes in my craft room to knock out a card.  I was still inspired but this month's Paper Pumpkin kit that I shared over on my friends HelloSubscription Blog .  Using watercolor pencils and then an aqua painter for a quick background is so easy and gorgeous and I couldn't wait to try it out some more.
I knew how I wanted to start my card so I grabbed my  new watercolor pencils and a scrap of my watercolor paper and looked them over.
I could not wait to get my  new watercolor pencils and having them come in my matching Stampin' Up colors is fantastic. That is really one of my favorite things about Stampin' Up in that the colors are all matching and coordinate. It makes creating and designing so easy.

Right away the Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight jumped out and me and I knew exactly what stamp set I could use them for.

For this card I scribbled the two pencils onto my paper with a heavy hand so that I would get a rich color when I added water.  I'm a fan of the aqua painters for this technique but you could use a paint brush or whatever your favorite blending tool is.

Here is my base once I had blended it out.  I then used my Misti and my new Hey Chick stamp set to get the placement right where I wanted it to be. I somehow didn't get a picture of that but I am in love with my Misti and how easy it makes stamping in a certain spot on a card.

Here it is one I got it stamped and since I decided it need a bit of shine so I went over it and added a little wink of stella to the card. I love how the stella gives it just a peak of shimmer.

I'm a messy stamper so one way I keep my stamps clear and not have ink all over everything is to use the Lawn Fawn Shammy.  It is so great and you just wet it and then put the stamp on it once done. As you can see mine is well loved and all of the stains don't hurt it at all.  I also used the memento ink for my stamping.

As I said above I used a scrap piece of water color paper so it was not enough to cover the whole front of a standard size card. No worries I just selected a card base and then added some of the super fun glimmer paper that I also got during Sale-a-bration.  You can never have too much glitter! This is a very low profile card so great for mailing and even without a lot of embellishments I LOVE it and think it really stands on it own.
Hey Chick! So what do you think? This stamp set is so fantastic and when sale-a-bration was going on I knew I had to get it. While it is no longer available you could easily do this same technique and idea and go with any stamp set.

What are you crafting today? I hope you are having a fantastic time creating.
Happy stamping,
Jenny

Monday Musings

This post may contain affiliate links but all comments are my own.

It's finally Monday and we had a fun weekend.  The weather was gorgeous and my boys played outside for about 8 hours on Saturday and then yesterday we went down to my parents house to see my brother who was in from Colorado. Busy day but lots of fun

I spent some time this weekend working in my craft room and I was able to find a spot for my new  Cricut Explore Air 2 Machine !!!  I can't wait to make my own vinyl creations.  If you have one where do you get your vinyl from? Do you have a favorite type?  I'm so excited for this and I keep squealing a bit every time I look at it.

I also got my Erin Condren order in this weekend! I love my planner and get a new one every year.  I've tried some others but they just don't work great for me so I go back to my favorite. In this order I got some new covers, some gift labels, and return address labels.  Since I make cards I also send them and adding cute return address labels is always fun. I can't decide which cover I want to use first. So many decisions.

Since we do year round schooling we don't have Spring Break like the rest of the kids around here so while mine are in school this week I'm hoping to keep going on my craft room and get that up and ready to go so I can share some creations with you.  It is so exciting!!!

What are you up to this week? Are your kids home with you?
Have a great night!
Jenny

Orange you Glad Teacher Gift

As most of you know we go to a year round school here so N has been in for 3 weeks and is getting ready to track out for 3 weeks.  I was at Target the other week and bought a cute mug for his teacher that we wanted to give as a quick " Have a Great Track out" gift. This was a weird summer with the school so the teachers had short summers to and we love his new teacher.

As with some of my other mugs it really hard to take a picture of the whole thing at one time.  I love love love these picks that we made in the Big Shot.  The original stamp set looked to be a little gardeny for me but I could see its uses and I've really used them a ton.  There is a new stamp set in the new catty that has some other uses too.

N and I stamped all the picks outlines and then we used some of the photopolymer stamp sets letters to stamp our saying.

Next up was to use the magnetic platform and line up the framelit so that we could cut it out.  This is where the magnetic platform really comes in handy since it holds the position of the framelit and the stamp.

Ns favorite part. He loves using the Big Shot and everything we talk about a project he asks if we are going to use it.  And as you can see we've been doing a lot of crafts lately. LOL I think one of our trackout activities will be to clear off the table so we can start messing it up again ;)

Here you can see all the picks.  While I wanted to add some buttons or bling of some kind N was happy like this and so I left it.  Well we did add a little to and from tag to it.  Inside he wrote a note and we added an orange water enhancer.

Just a cute and fun gift for an exciting day in a year round school kids life :)

To see all the Stampin' Up products I used check my links below and as always ask if you have any questions.

Happy Crafting,
Jenny
