Ipsy December 2013 Review

Look what was in my mailbox today?

My Ipsy December bag.  Wahoo!!!!  Have I said before how much I love getting this hot pink envelope in the mail? It is totally awesome and if you get a gift from me then it probably comes in one of these ;)  They posted what we were getting to our glam rooms a couple days ago  but we didn't know which colors we would get so I was very anxious to see mine and let me say it did not disappoint. The theme this month was Celebration and was geared for items you could use at a holiday party.

Here are my goodies:
  • Be a bombshell The One stick in Sunset - This is an all in one stick with a smooth texture that can be applied to your eyelids, cheeks or lips for the perfect pop of color.  There was a chance at 2 different colors this month and while I haven't seen the other colors yet I'm liking mine. Its a deep reddish color and I think I will get to use it.
  • POPBeauty Bright Up Your Life Eyeshadow Trio in Naturally Bare - There were two color options in this one and the other was a grey palette. While I would have used both trios I'm liking this one since I can wear it more often. Brown tones are my goto eyeshadows.
  • J.Cat Beauty Big Lip Pencil in Caramel Mocha - Another one with two color options with the other being Red Rose. I'm glad I got the Caramel and while I'm not a huge lipstick fan I do love these big lip pencils and usually top them with some gloss for a fun night out.
  • Mirabella Eye Blender Brush - This brush feels really good and since I've recently tossed all my older brushes I'm in the process of restocking. This is going right in that holder.
  • Nicka K NewYork Nail Color in Ripe Apple - WOW this is red but I love it. I was just telling a friend that I don't really have any red red nail polishes. this will fit that bill. The other color option was a taupe which I don't have either but this red really POPs. :)
  • The  Ipsybag - This one is really a nice make and is blood red inside and very pretty. I've used some of my bags and the others are stashed under my sink. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with those.  If you get  Ipsywhat are you doing with all of your bags?
So what do you think of this month?  I'm really loving my bag.   Ipsy is a monthly subscription box that costs $10 a month (plus tax in some states) and for that price I think I really got  my moneys worth. They used to send the same items to everyone each month but now there are some variations. If you go into your glam room you can see what other people might have gotten. I will say there were a couple items I'm glad I didn't get this month (fake lashes LOL) but you do fill out a survey when signing up however I'm not sure how much that has to do with what you get.

I can't wait to play around with my new goodies this month.
Have a Happy Holiday Season,
Jenny

Thursday Thoughts 12/12/2013

Linking up with Jennifer for some Thursday Thoughts:

  • When my dad bought me an extra large capacity washer moving into my first apartment I thought he was a little crazy but now in my house with my boys I love it.
  • C is so stinkin' cute. I'm sitting here blogging while he is happily playing kitchen and making what sounds like soup and fruit salad.  All while wearing his fireman hat. Well all good chefs wear a hat :)
  • How is everyone doing on their Christmas shopping? I'm usually done by now but I'm still working on it this year.  I'm down to just a couple people but they are the ones I really need to look around and find something great.  I went out this morning and I'll try to do some more in the next couple of days.
  • C had his school pictures this morning. I was beginning to wonder when they were going to do them but they said we will have them back next week. I can't wait. Its a small preschool so they are knocked out pretty fast. This was his outfit today minus the hat of course.

  • Do you guys do a  big deal for your birthdays?  M and I just don't so even though he is turning 40 tomorrow (shh don't tell anyone ;)) we have no real plans. He didn't want to do a big party or anything and we will just stay home and hang out with the boys.  Celebrating tonight with family and again Saturday night with other family.  We are kind of the same with the boys actual birthdays too. We usually let them pick dinner and we do cupcakes or something. Last year N wanted ginger cookies so I made those. Then we have been doing them a party but its all pretty lo-key.  Just wondering how big you all go for the actual day?
Well I better get up and do some more Christmas prep and lunch for us.  I hope you all have a great weekend and holiday season if you are going away.

Happy Thursday!!!

So What Wednesday 12/11/2013

Linking up with Shannon for So What Wednesday.  This week I'm saying So What If...

  • I placed a huge Stampin' Up order yesterday with their Clearance Rack Blitz.
  • in placing that order I went right down a list I had made when at my retreat last month so I had no idea exactly what all I ordered until later. LOL The clearance items go fast so I had to jump on them.
  • C got sick yesterday afternoon so all my plans went out the window.  He wanted to lay on his mommy so I was happy to oblige.
  • We had a great start to decorating for Christmas and then it all went out the window.  The totes are still sitting down here waiting to be unpacked. Maybe today.
  • I've been stalking the mail and delivery men. I get packages everyday and I love it.
  • I was probably just a little to excited when my Magic Bands came yesterday.
Don't they just make you smile?
  • Ms birthday is Friday and we have no big plans.  He is turning 40 but we don't do big birthdays so I'm thinking we are hanging out at home.  Maybe play a game with the boys.
So that's it this week. Are you linking up? What are you saying So What to?

Monday Morning Musings 12/9/2013

Another Monday and Christmas is that much closer :) I'm working on finishing up my list and will be doing some more this week. Then I can work on wrapping next week.  The boys and I decorated the tree this weekend.  Its not completely done but its pretty close.

Then Saturday night we went to the Santa Train at the Museum of Life and Sciences here. We had a blast and while C didn't want to talk to that Santa he did wave at him. We have a couple more Santa activities coming up so he can try again.  Here are the cousins being silly. They loved all the photo ops they had there.

A couple for my random file but did you see my Wantable intimates review the other day?  If not you can see it HERE.  Where it was cold and rainy here yesterday so I broke out my Muk Luk slippers and all I can say is I love love love them.

Then to add to my product love. I had placed a Sephora order with the cyber Monday deals and coupons and grabbed a soaking nail polish remover as an impulse buy and I'm not wondering how in the world I have lived without it. I had some thick glitter polish on and it took it right off.  You do have to go one finger at a time but considering you have to soak and wrap and scrub when you do it with regular puffs I think the timing is about the same.

So aren't you glad I shared that with you ;)  Busy week this week. Lunching and shopping with my sister today. Then tomorrow I'm going to have lunch with N at school. He is almost through his second quarter and I haven't gone yet. :( I'm thinking that is a mommy fail. But he has really been asking lately so I wrote his teacher and tomorrow is my day. C will still be in preschool so I can go and just spend time with N.  He is really excited.  Friday is also Ms birthday and he will be turning 40. We have no big plans and he doesn't  want anything so I'm thinking we will just have some family fun time.  There is a Porsche exhibit at our Art Museum that I think he would love since Porsche is a dream car of his so we may try to make it to that one day.  Saturday we have breakfast with Santa at our local CPK.  If you have one you should see if they do this. You get a mini breakfast pizza and then Santa walks around.  We went when they did the Easter bunny this year and it was so relaxed and fun.  Oh and they have mimosas. ;) SOLD. LOL

Onto box news.  I really have no idea what is coming this week. Possible Ipsy. They just posted our bags online this morning so if you want to see what you are getting check it out. I'm hoping my colors are good as I'm getting a great bag this month.  Then I won a contest over at Ramblings of a suburban mom and will be getting a HauteLegs box.  They just sent me an email telling me that it was on its way so should be here soon.  I'm also thinking of ordering Plated today so I should have that next Wednesday. I've never used their service before but the meals look good and with M home nights this week we will be able to use it.  I'm excited to give it a shot.

So there you go my musings for a Monday. What are you up to this week? Are you doing anything awesome and fun?  Let me know.

Friday Phone Dump 12/6/2013

Linking up for some Friday Phone Dump:

This week has gone crazy fast for us and I have some random pictures to show it.

  • N was picking up and getting ready for bed the other night and he packed his Nerf in his bag. He was ready for the battle the next day.
  • We went and saw Santa this week. I think the boys had just as much fun waiting as they did seeing him.
  • Even with all the packages that have been coming this week. This one is my favorite. It means that my trip is almost here.

  • We went to the park this morning. It is almost 80 deg here today. So warm today but its going to be cold tomorrow when we go on our Santa train.
  • Also this morning C was going to read so he climbed in the trunk with his books and his bus.  Not sure how much reading he got done but he had a great time playing.
  • C is starting to stop take a nap and the other day he was looking at his NCState book at my feet and then it got quiet. When I looked he was out right there on the floor.
So that was our crazy busy week in a glance. And just in case you didn't see it yesterday here was the best of our Santa pictures.

How was your week? Are you linking up? Let me know so I can visit.

Wantable Intimates Dec 2013 Box Review

So excited that my Wantable Intimates box came in the mail today.  I just ordered it the other day when they were having their Buy one get one (BOGO) Cyber Monday deal.  I love me some fast shipping especially around the holidays.

This is the normal looking Wantable box that I am used to with my makeup subscription but it is a larger size.

First look and I was so excited.  Wantable doesn't send a normal information card since each box is curated for the person who is going to receive it.  They have a very in depth questionnaire so that you will get mostly items you love and like and will not get any you dislike.  You can go in and modify your results at anytime.  Since I hadn't gotten any of these boxes yet and the ones I had seen were really all over the place I tried to make my survey as general as possible so they could dazzle me with their selections.  Here is what my results looked like this month.

And now the unveiling.

Eeehhh At first real look and I was intrigued. Some items that jumped right away but others I had no idea what they were so I had to look and read. :)  Keep going for the breakdown...

Chickies Cleavage Coverage in Raspberry ($33) - This was the item I had no idea what it was. It was folded up and placed in the little bag.  This is a product the notes say is something that you will smack your forehead and say "why didn't I think of that." LOL It is basically a dickie for women.  It cam be worn with any two strap bra and then wraps around the back for a secure feel.  I love this color and I want to try it out with some of the deep neckline looks this winter.

OnGossamer Bikini in Tangerine 2 ($22) - This is their signature bikini in a seamless superfine mesh.  I can't tell you how soft these are. And FYI in my survey when I signed up I said I loved color basically the brighter the better so they have followed that as you can see.

PACT Lake blue Pointelle Ankle sock ($10) - I love socks and since the last couple I've put on I've had to trash due to wear these couldn't come at a better time. Plus they are certified organic cotton and all facilities used to make them are certified ensuring the highest level of environmental and social responsibility.  Always nice to do some good for the Earth.

MUK LUKs snowflaked slipper socks ($24) - OMG these are AWESOME well not so much today since its 80deg here in NC but starting tomorrow the high will only be 50deg and it goes down from there. I can't wait to curl up by the fire and wear these.

So what do you think? Are you loving this box?  As with the makeup box the intimate box is $36 a month.  If you want to check any of the Wantable boxes out you can see them by clicking my Wantable link. This box came to $89 so it was a great value and as usual if you don't love it they have an easy way for you to return your box for a refund.  Also they make it easy to skip months on their website if you don't want to get one every month. I love when a company makes my life easier.

Happy shopping and let me know if you got a box too. I'd love to see what else people are getting.
