Finally Friday

This post may contain affiliate links but all comments are my own.

If you haven't noticed I'm back and I hope to blog a couple times a week. It was a nice break from here but I missed you all.
  • Crazy busy week so far. We are in the process up changing around our office/craft room/playroom area and it takes some work. I'll do a full post on it when its done but here's a peek. We painted this wall and moved the shelves and now working on the rest of the room. It is so exiting.

  • I'm also having a hard time believing that Buffy the Vampire Slayer is 20 years old.  There is no way that I could possible be that old and that show was on so long ago.  I've been devouring my Entertainment Weekly all week and really I could do a magazine of it each week and never get tired. #teamspike

  • This weekend my boys say they want to play all day so I'm going to work on my books. I'm currently reading. I'm currently reading Arcana Rising (The Arcana Chronicles) (Volume 5) by Kresley Cole but I'm almost done.  It is a great series and while I love her more adult books this is a great YA version of her books to read through.  Next up is my favorite Black Dagger Brotherhood books by J.R.Ward The Chosen: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood . If you like supernatural books that have some great romance in them but still have a full overlying arc this it is a series for you.  There are so many books in the series and I started a couple years ago and jus plowed through until I was caught up. I couldn't put them down but now I have to wait about a year to get each new one which is so hard but I still just devour them as soon as they come out.

  • There is so much I want to share and I'm just not sure where to start.  We are going to my dad's house on Sunday to have dinner. My brother is going to be in town from Denver so we are making a day trip to see him. We don't get to see him much so everyone is excited.  Then next week is a short week with Good Friday and Easter next weekend and then we only have three days before track out and the boys will be home for 3ish weeks.  They can't wait and since its our last track out for year round school I'm ready to.  We are going to a traditional calendar school next year so everything will be a bit of a change.  See here I am babbling again.
What are you guys up to this weekend? Any big plans for the coming week?  I'll be back soon with more random babblings.
Happy Friday!
Jenny

TV Talk - Time to Say GoodBye!!!

Hey look at me and I feel the need to chat so I'm joining in with some TV Talk for a couple of series/season finales that I've watched recently.  There will be some SPOILERS below so enter at your own risk.

I'm going to start with BONES and say how I have always loved this show. I started watching it way back when due to David Boreanaz and I have never looked back. While it had all the elements of a case of the week it had just enough serial arc to keep me hooked.  I love that they knew it was going to end so they could bring back previous cast members and could then tie up the story. This is a show that I can turn on anytime (and lets face it it is almost always on TNT) and still watch and not get bored with it.

Onto VAMPIRE DIARIES and this show is a little harder for me. I stuck through with it every season but as it went on I tended to record and then binge it after awhile and it was not one I had to watch right when it came on.  This last season especially the second half changed that for me. They had a lot to work into the finale and I think they did a great job. I even commented to my friends that I should not be crying during Vampire Diaries but I was with the last couple of episodes. While I knew they were bringing Elena back I was not sure exactly how and I was concerned it would feel really contrived but I think they did it as right as the could and I love that they gave us a sense of what happened in the future and how things turned out. There are two ways I really like a finally and one is that they do lots of flashbacks and another is they do a flash forward and this flash forward was perfect.  I've since read some scoop how there could be an opening for another spinoff with Caroline and Klaus and not that I'm expecting that but I would totally be in. I love Klaus and I still love the Originals which has just returned but if that ends then I would be on for another one.

Jumping a bit to the season finale of THE WALKING DEAD and some random thoughts.  Since I have a spoiler junkie I had ideas of what was going to go down but I still love to see how it plays out and they did not disappoint.  I think with all the tension in last seasons finale people were expecting something like that this time and pretty much this season has been a lot of build up for seasons to come.  As the time goes by in the apocalypse it only makes sense that there are going to be more groups of people and differences and there is going to have to be war and that is what we are going to get.  Now that I've watched I'm ready for next season and I'm curious if it is going to pick up right where we left of or if possible could there be a time jump and then we will get fill in with flashbacks.  I could see it going either way.  I'm also wondering where all the main cast ends up and with which colony. Since we've had so many deaths lately I think we need to start adding a couple more people to the main cast. I know the cast is already large but if we don't add some then when we have deaths they won't mean as much since we aren't as invested in the characters.

These are my two time travel shows and I love them both with TIMELESS still on the bubble but not looking likely for renewal and TIME AFTER TIME already cancelled.  Before the season started I read a book series by Rysa Walker in her Chronos Files series Timebound (The Chronos Files) so I was ready for some time travel drama. The book series is really good if you want to check out some YA time travel.  TIMELESS came on first and I was hooked right away with the cast jumping through time to try and stop whatever Flynn was trying to change. My main issue with this was it seemed a but hectic with them going to a different time each week and then not really staying in that time long. For example they made a jump to the 80s which should have been a fun decade to check out and they didn't really show much of it at all which left me wanting.  If this one by chance does get picked up and I hope it does then I will be in for a season 2.  TIME AFTER TIME has already been pulled from the schedule and in all reality cancelled and that is a huge shame. While I liked Timeless I was already hooked on Time after Time and the story of HG Wells chasing through time after Jack the Ripper. I think the cast was strong and it was only picking up.  I think what hurt it most was its time slot and then starting here in the middle of the season. Some shows can start mid-season but a heavy serialized show in a season with so many other shows with a similar pretense was going to have a hard time.  I'm hoping that they do come out and burn off the rest of the filmed episodes sometime this summer or at least release them online since I would like to watch the rest of whats out there.

So that is my random chat on what I've seen so far. I'm loving this year with the shows playing through with fewer big breaks between new episodes even through that means we are getting season and series finales scattered through the year.  I'm sad with some of the shows we are loosing this year but I'm excited for some new ones to be released.
What have you thought about the finales so far? Anything that really jumped out at you?

Finally Friday

Hey look at me and back to blogging for a second time this week!!!  I took a break and it was great but I'm planning to be back more now to share my randomness with you more often.  This is a new one for me and pretty much just where I'm going to put out whatever I'm thinking about on a Friday about the week before.

  • I love a holiday week where the boys don't have school however it does make the rest of the week seem so long.
  • Today is the last upper 90deg day here for awhile and I can not say I will miss them.
  • To make the week longer it is early release from school today so the boys and I will be heading to the pool before it closes for the season.
  • I have a huge To Be Read pile of books all and I really want to read them all but I'm going to finish up the series I started awhile ago first. The final book just got here this week so I know what I'll be picking up this weekend. It's got lots of time travel and a bit of romance all mixed into a nice little YA package.  They are so good and the new fall show Timeless actually reminds me of it. So you know that one is on my list.

  • Speaking of TV. Did you see my TV chart? I posted it yesterday and if you missed it you can check it out HERE!!!!  It is actually one of the smaller ones that I've ever had. Less TV means more time for reading.
No big plans for the weekend here. We have a birthday party tomorrow and probably try and get to the pool at least one more time. I'm ready for fall and the cooler weather that is coming soon. I just can't wait.

Have a great weekend,
Jenny

Fall TV 2016 - TV Talk

My Entertainment Weekly came yesterday and I immediately went through and read it. I mean how could I not when my Superntural boys where on the cover!  So yes for those new to my blog (well I haven't been blogging much lately but I hope to be back soon) I create a chart each year with the shows and how they will fall out during the week.  We actually switched from Tivo to our cable DVR recently so I can now record 6 things at a time! That is beyond exiting but looking at my chart I don't have as many overlaps as in years past so not as big a deal but still it is so exciting.  This year I'm going to give you a little nightly thoughts below the chart so stick around and check me out.

Here is the chart......

So lets check it out for a quick daily thoughts.

Sunday - I'm running the gambit of shows on this night from fantasy to zombies to procedural. They are all so good and returning shows that I know I will watch. M and I both watch Elementary so that one will get a bit backed up on the dvr and I have to be careful since football sometimes messes with the start time.

Monday - Look how much empty space is on my Monday night? It is usually my most crazy recording night. I can't wait to see how Supergirl does on the CW and how it meshes with the other DC shows on the channel.  Timeless also looks great and so much like the books series I'm currently reading. I'm hoping its great and I have great ideas for it.

Tuesday - This is us seems to be the show to talk about of the season. I swear with all the commercials during the Olympics everyone is interested in it.  The cast looks awesome and they are kindof close in age to me so I can't wait to see how it goes.

Wednesday - Two new shows on Wednesday oh what am I going to do. LOL  Designated Survivor looks like a show both M and I will love and then Frequency just looks interesting. I saw the movie years ago and this is kindof a take off from that but I haven't seen a bunch about it but I'm going to try it out.

Thursday - And here are where my boys ended up :)  I've been watching Supernatural since the beginning and I love that it is really starting to get the respect that I've always given it.  Legends is so interesting to me and I loved last season so I'm hoping they don't have a sophomore slump. I want to see how all the of DC shows are going to work with the new contracts they gave some of the actors to float between them all. That is so different from what we are used to and I can't wait.

Friday - This is the last season for Vampire Diaries and while I haven't always loved it I actually liked last season with Elena gone and I can't wait to see where they take it this year.  It also looks like Damon is going to be back to his early Vampire Diaries self and more mischievous. I love the glint that Ian gets in his eyes when he's playing Damon that way.

Overall I think it will be a great season but I don't have as many new shows to try and some of my returning shows aren't back until mid-season so they aren't on this list either. Last year I had 27 fall shows to try and this year I'm down to 16! That is huge for me and I'm a bit excited to in theory have some more free time. I've really gotten into reading more lately and I know the time will be taken up with that.

I'm beyond excited and ready now for the new season. What are you most interested in? Anything new that really catches your eyes? Any shows that you think I'm missing? I'm always up for adding to my list and checking something new out.

Happy viewing,
Jenny
