Hey Chick! Card

This post may contain affiliate links but all comments are my own.

I had a house full of kids playing Mario Cart today so I took a few minutes in my craft room to knock out a card.  I was still inspired but this month's Paper Pumpkin kit that I shared over on my friends HelloSubscription Blog .  Using watercolor pencils and then an aqua painter for a quick background is so easy and gorgeous and I couldn't wait to try it out some more.
I knew how I wanted to start my card so I grabbed my  new watercolor pencils and a scrap of my watercolor paper and looked them over.
I could not wait to get my  new watercolor pencils and having them come in my matching Stampin' Up colors is fantastic. That is really one of my favorite things about Stampin' Up in that the colors are all matching and coordinate. It makes creating and designing so easy.

Right away the Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight jumped out and me and I knew exactly what stamp set I could use them for.

For this card I scribbled the two pencils onto my paper with a heavy hand so that I would get a rich color when I added water.  I'm a fan of the aqua painters for this technique but you could use a paint brush or whatever your favorite blending tool is.

Here is my base once I had blended it out.  I then used my Misti and my new Hey Chick stamp set to get the placement right where I wanted it to be. I somehow didn't get a picture of that but I am in love with my Misti and how easy it makes stamping in a certain spot on a card.

Here it is one I got it stamped and since I decided it need a bit of shine so I went over it and added a little wink of stella to the card. I love how the stella gives it just a peak of shimmer.

I'm a messy stamper so one way I keep my stamps clear and not have ink all over everything is to use the Lawn Fawn Shammy.  It is so great and you just wet it and then put the stamp on it once done. As you can see mine is well loved and all of the stains don't hurt it at all.  I also used the memento ink for my stamping.

As I said above I used a scrap piece of water color paper so it was not enough to cover the whole front of a standard size card. No worries I just selected a card base and then added some of the super fun glimmer paper that I also got during Sale-a-bration.  You can never have too much glitter! This is a very low profile card so great for mailing and even without a lot of embellishments I LOVE it and think it really stands on it own.
Hey Chick! So what do you think? This stamp set is so fantastic and when sale-a-bration was going on I knew I had to get it. While it is no longer available you could easily do this same technique and idea and go with any stamp set.

What are you crafting today? I hope you are having a fantastic time creating.
Happy stamping,
Jenny

Currently

This post may contain affiliate links but all comments are my own.

It's been awhile since I've done a post like this so I thought I would jump right in. Here is a flash of my life the last couple of days and what I'm up to Currently!

Currently Reading  Immortal: A Novel of the Fallen Angels  from J.R.Ward .  This the last book int the Fallen Angel series and when I started this series this one had just come out and I somehow never read it.  The boys and I went to the library this week and I saw it and remembered. I love all the books I've read from J.R.Ward. She does great paranormal books.

Currently loving that my boys love books.  Speaking of libraries I love that when they are tracked out one of the first things they want to do is go to the library.  I'm still a huge fan of real books and being able to curl up and read and I love that they are getting into it too.  I was a little shocked when I realized that C was in the actual kids fiction section and not over in the early readers and picture readers.  When did my little guy get so big.  Time goes so fast.

Currently creating my first Cricut Explore Air 2creation! I'm so excited and went looking around for things to put some vinyl on then I looked over and just had to add a little touch of love to my cabinet.  Since I keep some of my Disney travel supplies in the cabinet it just had to have some love. It is still a learning process and I'm sure to make so many more fun items but I'm so happy with my first one.

Currently smiling when I look at this shelf. In my redo of my craft room I got some new shelves of different sizes up on my new eggplant painted wall. I did not set out to put these on the same shelf but as I was arranging my collection this is how they ended and it just makes me smile so much.  I just love my Tinkerbell and  Bobby Singer . The represent two of my favorite things in Disney and Supernatural and my boys gave them to me for Christmas and I love them. I just can't help by smile.

So that's what I'm Currently into right now. I'm going to go back to watching Grace and Frankie now. I just started season 3 and I'm ready to watch more.  I know I'm a bit late for this season so who all has watched? Did you like it as much as the first two?

Have a great weekend and let me know what you are Currently into!

TV Talk - Supergirl, Flash, and Supernatural

The post could contain affiliate links but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I've been so busy that I've gotten behind on my tv watching and it is piling up on my DVR.  I did sit down today and watched a couple new episodes of some of the shows so I thought I would do a CW catch up today.

Let's start with Supergirl.  I'm so glad that it is now on the CW. It fits in there so much better then on CBS last season. I also still love how they work so many Superman genre actors onto the show and how it really  just works. It all just works. This past episode has Kara getting her job back and in the process they deal with her friendship with Lena Luthor.  I love that they are friends but I have a strange feeling it will come back to bite her in the end.  I was pretty excited with the nano-bytes in this episode and it reminded me of Revolution.  I really liked that show and it just ended with no resolution which sucked and I don't think it got much love but in Supergirl they tied up all the nano ends nice and pretty in one episode.  I can't wait until we get more of Terri Hatcher and what all she is up to but I'm thinking she is supposed to be around for next season so they are just giving us the set up now.

Next up lets look at the Flash.  I still really do enjoy this show and while I do think this season has been a bit rockier then the past I still look forward to it each week.  The big bad this season is Savitar and we still do not know who it is. It is a big surprise and since we don't have many episodes left I'm sure they will bring it up.  With the end of this past episode and Killer Frost/Caitlin immediately following him I'm leaning to someone who isn't in the collage above. What if Savitar is Ronny? He was the love of her life and she never really got a chance to get over him. It seems to be just as much a possibility as any of the others and would be a big shock to everyone. I'm finally not always seeing Draco Malfoy when I look at Tom Felton and he really does like Caitlin and I think he is going to be heartbroken in the end. I do hope he sticks around since I think he makes a good addition to the team.

And let's end up with Supernatural since I actually watched it this evening.  This season has been a bit up and down for me. I'm really more into the serialized part of the show and this season I feel has had a lot of stand alone episodes which while good I really like the overall arcing stories.  Tonight's episode was all about the arc and it had Castiel in it which I love. He is so much a part of the team and he's been missing for far to long.  It really brought us back into the story and set us up for the last couple of episodes and I can't wait. I'd love to finish this baby storyline and I'd like to get rid of the British Men of Letters. They seem so odd this season and maybe that is why I haven't been all into it as much.

So I just reread that and I'm really all over the place. I guess it goes with my randomness and my thoughts this evening. It has been a busy long week and hopefully will slow down some this weekend and I can take a breath and watch some more tv.

Have a great night and enjoy your TV watching!

TV Talk - LSB, GH, and OUaT

The post could contain affiliate links but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Good evening everyone!  I'm watching something and I just had to share.

So who watches Lip Sync Battle?  I'm obsessed with it and when I saw who was on this week I had to watch right away.  I'm a GH fan and loved watching Ricky  Martin from back in the day and then to see where all he has gone is amazing.  This show is always hysterical and so fun to watch and I LOVE getting my LL Cool J fix each week,  Oh and talking about tonight's episode Ricky came out and was ready to go. It was so fun tonight and I loved all of the song choices. These two really came out to win it and put all into it.

Speaking of General Hospital I am still a watcher. I record it everyday and then usually let it play while I'm cleaning and making dinner etc. It is not something I have to sit down and stare at but I do like it as my background and what's going on.  I'm trying to decide what my favorite story right now is and I might have to go with Tracy's story. I know they are working up to Jane Elliots leaving the show but I love when she is front and center and she is just balls out in all of her scenes.  I'm a bit over all the Jake and Jason/Elizabeth stuff.  I like both Jason and Elizabeth and I know that they have the kid together but its almost like their stories have done in such different directions they need to just stop trying to push them together.  That story line is a bit annoying and I think Elizabeth and Franco could have a good storyline without the Jason interference.  I'm excited to see what summer storylines they come up with soon since I always feel like those are some of the hotest ones and it is getting to be that time.

So I am still behind in my Once Upon a Time Viewing. I've only watched three of the new ones this year but it is my current binge so that I can get ready for the wedding/musical episode coming up. I'm a sucker for a wedding episode and then to make it a musical and you know I'm sucked in. I can't wait and I'm sure to  be back once I get a chance to watch it. Now for the show I've been watching since the beginning and while I don't think it has kept up the same awesomness that it had at the beginning I'm loving this season more since its back to the main cast and not as many outside characters getting in the way. They are still there but I feel like the focus is back to more of our cast and I love that.  I've been reading the news about another season and them doing a bit of a reboot and I think that could be good for the show. I'll be watching to see what happens with that and how they move it but my Disney loving heart just can't give up on this show yet.  I do however love to binge it so I will record a couple months and then catch up which is what I'm working on now.

So those are my random shows for the week. I've been really busy and haven't had a ton of time to catch up on a lot of tv besides my HGTV shows, Bones episodes and the Twilight movies they keep showing on Freeform.  Hmm well maybe that is where all my tv time is going ;)
Happy viewing,
Jenny

Monday Musings

This post may contain affiliate links but all comments are my own.

Monday after a long weekend should be outlawed but then Tuesday would just be even worse so I guess getting going makes the most sense.  We have a short week this week with my boys tracking out of school on Thursday so that is going to be fun. We don't have any real plans for our break but we hope to hit some of the local museums and parks and just relax so that we are ready to knock out the last 6 weeks of school when they go back.

We went to my mom's house for the weekend and had a great Easter brunch with them. My boys are so funny and when we talk about Easter they always say that we eat at the Speedway Club. I guess that is our tradition and it won't be changing for now at least.  You can't see it in these pictures but I wore one of the Disney dresses from Lauren Conrad and Kohls. I was so excited when I found it on clearance and it was perfect for Easter and really any summer events. It is from the snow white line but doesn't have characters all over it.  I love it!

My crazy boys also decided it was warm enough to get into the pool. They did go back and forth from the hot tub to the pool and back. They had a blast. I'm a southern girl so I just did the hot tub and sat out and it was still a great time.

My mom had the great idea to do whip cream died eggs. The boys thought it was really messy but they had a good time. We forgot to grab gloves so we improvised with baggies.  They worked and the eggs came out cute but not sure we will be doing that method again anytime soon.

Not sure what else we have going on this week. I'm sure to be back next week with our weekend recap and the first few days of track out in the books.

Have a great one!
Jenny

J.R. Ward The Chosen Book Chat

This post could contain affiliate links however all opinions are my own.

Holy Moly who all reads the Black Dagger Brotherhood books?  I'm hooked on them and couldn't wait to get my hand on the latest one. The Chosen: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood is the 15th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J. R. Ward and it is just as good as all the others. I could not put it down and since I do some reading every day in carpool it makes the rest of my life pretty much go on hold until I can finish my book. I mean really most books I can start and stop but not when I start these. I have to finish. I am hooked as soon as I get started even with this one which I think was a bit darker then some of the recent ones.

If you don't know the Black Dagger Brotherhood books fall under the paranormal romance section in the bookstores and while they do have what I would say is a main couple in each book JR Ward really weaves the story of the Brotherhood and all of the other characters into the mix. That is part of what I think I really love about these stories is that in each book we get a bit of story from lots of different brothers and their Shellans (wives for us humans) and other characters that we have read about. The Brotherhood is a set of vampires who live among the world and protect their King Wrath and their species against the Lessers.  I promise it makes sense when you get into it and even the bit of language that is their own just works the story into its own universe. We also get some of the overall arcing story in each one as well.  This one I would say has a bit less of the over all story well until the end but you can see how it is setting up for the big final battle.

The main couple in this book is Xcor from the Band of Bastards and Layla one of the Chosen. We saw the start of their relationship in the last book and it comes full circle this time. With them being the main couple we also got info on Quinn and Blaylock, Trez, and even some Vishous.  I can't wait to see what is to come with all of them.  With the interwoven stories and all of the characters that we now have J.R.Ward has started an offshoot series called the Black Dagger Legacy which focuses on a new group of vampires that are going through the training program to be one of the fighters in the Brotherhood but since they are trained by the Brotherhood we get more little stories of the main guys that we already love.  I think this is a great way to work in stories with all the characters their are in this world.

Have I lost you yet? Are you already a fan? I'd love to chat about the series as a whole or this book in-particular. I can really go on and on and on.  Now I need to decide what book I'm going to read next. Any suggestions?

Happy Reading!
Jenny

TV Talk - Arrangement, the Originals, Fixer Upper

The post could contain affiliate links but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

When people ask me what my hobbies are one of the ones I always say is watching TV but its more then just watching I also love reading behind the scenes info and casting news and locations etc.  I get Entertainment Weekly in the mail and read it cover to cover to help feed my need for info. So even if I don't watch a show I normally know something about it and chat it up a bit.  I've started a couple shows recently that I want to share now.

The Originalsis back and started off with a bang. I love this show and while they haven't officially announced that it has been canceled it does have a short season this year and has just started so its not looking great. With this season they did a 5 year jump in time and Hayley has finally gotten everything she needs together to wake up the Michelsons. Waking them up is the least of her worries as people are still going to want to kill them.  I've decided that I NEED some Klaus in my weekly tv viewing but then I watch and decide I really just need the whole clan. Not to mention Jason Dohring is back on and I LOVED him in Veronica Mars. I just binged the first 4 episodes and can't wait for the next couple. Now that they have gotten them back and have set up the big bad for the season I'm ready to see the gang back together and how they work it out.

So has anyone else started watching The Arrangement?  I'm hooked. It is so good and really grips you right from the beginning. The basic premise is that a very hot and popular actor starts liking a new actress and in order to really date her he makes her sign a contract with lots of rules and requirements in it.  He is also part of a place called the Institute that is ran by the Michael Vartan character.  I love me some Michael Vartan from back in his Alias  days and really he is part of why I tried this show but now I can't wait to catch it each week. If you haven't watched yet this one will really suck you in quick.

I'm also a bit obsessed with Fixer Upper . Their style isn't really mine but I love seeing them transform the utter disasters of homes they get into masterpieces. I love a good recycle story and this is it to the max. The nastier the house they start with the more I love to see the results in the end. I've been binging the show a lot lately and while I had known what it was I had not really watched before but I'm totally hooked now. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Speaking of fixer upper shows did you see that they are bringing back Trading Spaces? I LOVED this show and it really ushered in all of the design shows we love today. I watched it every week and of course had some favorites and some WTF reveals and I can't wait to see how they do the new show.  I haven't seen if they are bringing back any of the original cast or how it is going to work but I can't wait to check it out when its back on.

That's it for now. I'll be back soon to talk about some other shows and with the seasons winding down all of them are really heating up. Are you watching anything new that is just AWESOME and something I need to check out? I'm open to all shows so let me know.
Happy Viewing,
Jenny
