Friday Photo Dump Mountain Style

As you guys know we took a family trip to the mountains as the beginning of the week.  We all had a blast and especially N. He asked so many questions and made so many great comments.  I'm loving this age with him.  So with us being up there all week I'm doing a mountain edition of the Friday Phone Dump with Jenn from Ramblings of a Suburban Mom.

First up was Grandfather Mountain and the Mile High Swinging Bridge.  Grandfather Mountain was really cool and once you pay and enter they give you a cd to listen to as you drive through.  Random fact is that one of the running scenes in Forrest Gump was filmed there ;) This bridge was awesome and eventhough its a mile above sea level its only about 80ft above the ground below so not too  bad. It was too much for some people up there though.

On the other side of the bridge you could climb out to the peek and look out.  The picture on the left is me zoomed in and the top right is no zoom. It was pretty far out there but N loved it.  C and I just waited at the end of the bridge. ;)

After the bridge M and the boys hiked down the side of the mountain to the next parking area.  I drove down to it and then walked in a ways to meet them.  N loved hiking and even C got in on it for awhile but M did have to carry him alot of the way.

That rock you see in the background is the peek that M and N were on. We stopped a little farther down to take a couple pictures and look we managed to get all of us in one of them. That so rarely happens.

The next day we stopped at The Blowing Rock and M had to climb that one too. We missed the best leaf color changing by a week or so but it was still beautiful.  I'll leave you today with a couple landscape porn pictures.  It is beautiful up there.

I hope you all have a good weekend.

Friday Randomness 10/11/2013

Of course I have some more randomness today.

  • Watched Good Luck Charlie with N yesterday since it was such a rainy nasty day and all I could think is that the set is the same one from the first Reba show.  Does anyone else think that?  What other shows use repeat sets?  I know that I've seen others but am drawing a blank now.
  • Went to see Beauty and the Beast last night with M. I won the tickets from a local tv station and it was a really good production. A little more tongue-n-cheek then the other versions I've seen but still pretty good.
  • The boys are obsessed with taking pictures lately.  Every time I get on FB I see how many pictures have been synced.  I was just looking and saw this cute picture of C taking a picture of N.  Now I need to get out the camera cable and see what his picture looks like.

  • No plans for this weekend so I hope to get some crafting in.  I want to make a couple pages and some cards.  N and M are going to the NCSU football game tomorrow so maybe while C naps I'll get some time. Otherwise I always have a helper and I don't really get a ton done ;)
  • Still waiting on some boxes and its like watching paint dry but I did participate in an online auction last week so I do have some packages coming each day.  It makes me so happy to get packages in the mail. I love me some mail.
  • Oh I also have some TV to catch up on. M and I are still working our way through season 1 of Revolution (we only have 3 more to go) so we haven't really been keeping up with the new season yet.  That needs to be corrected soon.
So that is what is randomly on my brain this morning.  Stay tuned later today for the Friday phone dump mountains edition.  What are you up to this weekend?  Big plans?

Thursday Thoughts 10/10/2013

Thursday again and I'm linking up for Thursday Thoughts.

  • I'm back. :)  Did you miss me?  Since N is tracked out of school we decided that we needed to take a little trip and after thinking of DC (which wouldn't work since it closed) we opted to go to the mountains.  We were maybe a week early for the beautiful leaves but the scenery was still beautiful.

Stay tuned tomorrow for some more pictures from the trip
  • Don't you hate when you go to the store thinking you have something at home and buy everything else you need but don't have that one item.  Yeap did that this morning. I could have sworn that I had a pork tenderloin in the freezer and bought potatoes and carrots and mushrooms and all the stuff to put in the crockpot and nope no meat.  So I'm punting and we'll use ground beef so it will be more like a stew.
  • Going to see Beauty and The Beast at DPAC tonight.  I wasn't planning on going but then I won some free tickets from a local TV station so M and I will make a date of it.
  • Why is it so hard to get back into the grove of things after a trip. I'm so tired today and feel like we are all moving at a slow speed.
  • That doesn't not however stop me from pricing out our next trip to WDW. The new 2014 early year specials came out and I'm thinking Ns next track out we will go. So look for some updates on that in Jan ;)
Well I think that is all for today. My brain is still on vacation time and I'm sure it will catch back up in a day or so.

What are you thinking about today?

Monday Morning Musings 10/7/2013

WOW time for another Monday Morning Musings.  Its been a busy morning here as we are getting ready to head to Grandfather Mountain for a couple days. Packing Packing Packing.

Busy weekend here too.  Friday evening I went out to dinner with my sister and then we did some shopping. You will be happy to hear that I was not as good at Target this time and spent $100. LOL That is definitely more the norm then my awesome $7 the other week.

Saturday we got to visit with Ms uncle who was in town and that night the boys and I headed to our clubhouse for a concert on the lawn.  It was a ton of fun and the boys are ready to have another one.

I said it the other day but the big picture C has his mommy, his blanket and a ring pop what more could he want.

We got a package from my mom the other day too and N wants me to share his new shirt with everyone.  He is very excited for it since we have trouble finding some in his size. They all seem to start at 8 and he only needs a 4/5.  He's such a little guy.

It is really nasty outside this morning with rain and some thunder and lightening.  The boys are mesmerized by the rain. You'd think we never had it here.

In other news for the week did you see my other post this morning about signing up for Stampin' Up for only $25?  If you are interested you can go and check it out here.  That is an awesome deal.

I'm not sure I'm expecting any boxes this week. :( which is sad but maybe one will come and I'll be surprised. That would make me happy.

Oh and I've been pinning things to Pinterest if you want to follow me  there and I finally joined the Instagram family and hopefully I'll get some trip pictures up on there. :)

So what are you all up to this week?  Anything fun and exciting?

Friday Phone Dump 10/4/2013

Friday again and time to link up with Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for the Friday Phone Dump.

The boys and I went to the pumpkin patch with our neighborhood moms group this week.  Both of them loved playing around in the corn pit. I told M next time we need new sand for the sandbox we should replace it with corn. It was so cool.

C tells us his favorite part was picking corn and then feeding the baby goats and pigs.  I'm pretty sure he would have done that for hours.  C picked his little pumpkin really fast but N had to go out an hunt for his. He wanted an exotic pumpkin so it took some looking.

It was so pretty last night we played outside for a long time. Nothing like getting some running in after dinner and before bed. ;)

And for my happy moment yesterday.  The neighbors brought over my Thirty one order. She had a party as a fundraiser for her walk for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Two of their daughters have Type 1 diabetes.  I'd been wanting to get some more pieces so I could resist all these goodies.

So how was your week? Did you take a ton of pictures?

Jenny
