October Birchbox Men

I felt bad leaving M out of all the subscription box fun so I signed him up for Birchbox Men. His first box came this week and it was pretty great. I plan to get at least a couple more months of these for him and see how they go. :) Just look at what all he got.

M loves his gadgets so I can really see the cable holders coming in handy.  He loved these when he looked at the box.

I've never seen him using a Pre-Shave Oil but it may be something he needs to try out.  We'll have to see how its working.

hmm powder who can't use more powder.

and a couple smaller samples thrown in.

This is our first Birchbox (I'm still on the waitlist for the womens box) so I haven't done the reviews yet but you are supposed to be able to review the items on their site and get points that you can then translate into discounts on full size items.  I can't wait to do that part. :)

Friday Random Ramblings

My random thoughts of the day.

I went to the movies last night with my friend Kristin to see Perks of Being a Wallflower.  It was a great movie and now I need to read the book.  I got both the movie passes and the book in my POPSugar box this month.  It was my first box and I love it.

C and I were surprised by this morning by the FedEx man.  I love all surprise packages and today was a lucky day. We got a box from shespeaks which is a website that has lots of information on it and occasionally sends out samples and coupons.  Today we got a box of Toddler Milk. I've never used it before but we are open to try things out.  I think this could be good to keep for when we are out of milk. ;)

And finally for today I'm switching to a big girl purse. LOL I've always carried a smaller purse but fell in love with this new bag and my mom got it for me. :)  So this weekend I'm switching out of my little on and into this beautiful bigger one.  I'm also hoping that I can then get rid of the diaper bag and just keep the couple things we might need in here.  We'll see how it goes and I'll keep you posted.

I've been blogging for awhile now.  What is everyone hoping to see in these posts?  Any requests?

October Ipsy bag

I'm in love!!! With my new Ipsy bag!!! Just take a look at it.

But first it came in a wonderfully bright purple envelope.  I loved getting this out of the mailbox.

Now onto the goodies.  When you first sign up and get on the waiting list you fill out a color profile.  Then when you get colored items in your bag they should be more in your color pallette.  The first item I got out was a 4 pack of eyeshadows by Coastal Scents.  The package says it is set 3 and the colors are Maroon Berry, Flesh Tone, Caramel, and Light Bronze.  I can't wait to play with them.

Next up came a hari treatment. The package says to work a small amount into your hair before you blow dry or air dry, or to already styled hair to calm frizziness or anytime for added softness. I'm not sure how much I'll use this but I'm up to give it a try.

Yeah for more lipgloss.  Those of you that know me know I'm obssessed with my Dr. Pepper charpstick, :) but I'm up to try something new.  This is actually a huge full size sample.  I've never heard of the brand mirenesse but the color is really great.  I''m not sure its actual name but it says Lip Bomb Mirror Me.  I will be trying this so if you see me and I don't smell like Dr. Pepper you will know why.

Back to the eye makeup this is a new mascara from the Balm.  Its a black mascara and just what I'm needing. I was just scrapping the last of my old tube so I'll be using this one soon.

And finally eyeliner from be a bombshell.  At first I thought this was a liquid liner but its really more like a marker. I've never used this kind of eyeliner but I'm up for it.

This was my first month for this box and it runs $10.  I think it was a great deal and I can't wait to try out all my goodies and using my new bag.  This cute little bag is going into my new purse that I will write about in another post. :)

Tivo Love

I love my Tivo.  I'm not sure how I ever lived without it.  M and I got our first one way back in 1997 before anyone even knew what a DVR was.  It only held 8 hours of tv and was basically just a replacement for the VCR. LOL  We moved on from there and at one time I hate to say we had 3 different Tivos running in our house. :)  I always say it saves me time since an hour show is really only about 44 minutes so if I skip all the commercials I'm saving 16minutes of my day. ;)  That allows me to watch more shows.

Yes I love TV and if possible I list it as a hobby. So what got me thinking about this today?  I was setting up a couple new season passes for tonights new shows (I can't wait to check out Arrow and Nashville) and realized we have 50 season passes.  This was after I cleared out some shows that are no longer one.  Not all of these shows are on all the time and some we have set up to just keep 5 episodes but yes we have 50 scheduled shows on there.

So now I'm curious how many shows do you have set to season pass on your Tivo or DVR?  I can not be the only one with this many shows on there.  Also how do you use yours?  Some of my shows I watch right away and others I like to hold onto a couple episodes and watch mini marathons.  Serial shows are really good for this as you don't forget things from week to week.

Show me your TV love and happy viewings,

Jenny

disclaimer:  The love I show Tivo is my own and we pay our tivo bill every month since they got rid of the lifetime memberships with the newer tivos.  However if anyone can hook us up with them just let me know. ;)

First Haircut at Magic Kingdom

We had my first sons first haircut at Disney.  It worked out that we were there when he needed it so now that it was time for my younger son C to get his first haircurt I knwe we needed to go back. :)  Last week was the time to go.  They do a great job at the Harmony Street Barbershop and the price is very reasonanble only $18 for the First Cut package (of course has my husband reminds me you also have to take into account the whole trip ;) ) With the package you get the haircut, a little bag with some of the hair in it, a certificate and the mouse ears.

Here is C waiting for his turn.  Look at all that hair!!!  It didn't normally look that bad but it was so hot at humid in Orlando that it was in a lovely state.
Its his turn. They covered his shirt in stickers and he was so great sitting there.
Bye Bye all that sweat baby hair.  They really cut alot of hair off.
What are you doing back there?
 Stickers, Stickers, I have stickers

And he's all done.

Its a great place for your first hair cut or any hair cut if you happen to be down there.  They will also add hair gel coloring and pixie dust to your hair if you want it.

Preschool Babble

I always laugh when picking N up from preschool. This is his second year at this school and he goes 4 days a week.  I get very little information on how his day was or what he did. We've been gone on vacation a week so you would think I'd get some good info today.  Nope. This is the information he was most excited about when he got in the car:
  • They got to play on the new grass today.  (Part of his playground got some artificial turf and today was the first day they were allowed on it)
  • They had gummies for snack.  (and water but he doesn't drink water so he said he just dumped it out)
  • and he made a new friend today. (I asked who it was and he said he didn't know.  I then prodded boy or girl and he said girl but he doesn't know her name.)
This was actually alot for him to offer on his own. Usually I get what they had for snack and whether he peed at school that day. LOL  I then usually proceed to ask pointed questions like did you make any art, did you work in your journal, did you sing etc and I usually just get a yes or no response.

So I'm just wondering does anyone else with a 4.5yr old boy get any more information from them?  Don't get me wrong my son is a talker normally and like me can talk to a brick wall he just doesn't share anything that he has done there.  Thank goodness for a great director and teacher and email or I'd have no idea what is going on.

I can only imagine how it will be the older he gets. :/

Cravebox Book Club

So cravebox is kindof like a subscription box but its a little different.  They have a subscritption that you have to be invited to but they also have a lottery for boxes too.  I use the lottery method.  They will announce their theme and then if you are interested you enter and if you get selected they will charge you and send your box. I've done this a couple times over the year but I just got the newest box which had a book club theme.

This is the first look into the box.  I love all the krinkle paper in there.  I plan to put it in a bag so that I can use it in a future gift. :)

With this theme being Book Club you could expect a book.
I will admit I've never heard of this book but I will add it to my to read pile and hopefully get to it soon.

The box also came with some yummy goodies to munch on while you read.

Neither of these are things I normally like so I passed them on to my mother in law. Licorice is one of her favorite snacky foods so she was very excited.

The box also included a very pretty bracelet that the insert card says " Goodies like these, for the mind and mouth, make it easy to appreciate the fun of Fall."
This is a Gratitudes Bracelet from Alexa's Angels and is rich wood and rhodium beads to help you count your blessings every day.  It is really nice looking.  I don't wear tons of jewelry but I can see pulling this out from time to time.

Over this is only an ok box for me.  I've gotten better ones from Cravebox that had samples and coupons on them.  I will probably read the book and someone will eat the food but nothing that just was all that great for me.  I know I will probably try for the next box too and see what I get depending on the theme.  I do love me some mystery boxes.
